We are a group of experienced obstetricians passionate about providing safe care to you
and your baby.
We share knowledge, experience and expertise. We are committed to providing continuity of care within the group. Our on call schedule ensures our availability for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week for obstetric emergencies and delivery.
We work with you in planning what is best for you and your pregnancy. Booking with Birthright can be done at any stage in your pregnancy. Your first specialist consultation may last for one hour, as we discuss your needs and how your care is organized. Your care plan will include antenatal checks, diagnostic tests and screening.
Follow up consultations are for 15 minutes in most cases but may be longer if the need arises. You will have a visit with our antenatal care midwives to discuss your birthplan and to help you prepare for parenthood.
Delivery is at Auckland City Hospital. We may also discuss the option of private anaesthetist if relevant. Alongside an experienced midwife, you will have one-to-one care during labour and delivery.
Your schedule of care with us looks like this :
- Booking visit : 10-12 weeks
- 12 – 28 weeks : Monthly specialist appointments
- Birthplan appointment with our midwife : between 30-32 weeks
- 28-36 weeks : Fortnightly specialist appointments
- 37 weeks onwards : Weekly specialist appointments
- 6 weeks post delivery specialist appointment
We provide care for women with:
- Normal pregnancy and birth
- Recurrent miscarriages
- Multiple pregnancies
- Emotional trauma from a previous pregnancy experience
- Fertility issues
- High risk pregnancies
- Pre-existing medical conditions
- Diabetes and high blood pressure during pregnancy
- Auto-immune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and other connective tissue disorders
- Poor previous obstetric history
- IVF / surrogacy pregnancies
- LGBTQIA+ persons
